Research partnerships and industrial chairs

One of the characteristics of research at SIGMA Clermont is its natural connections with numerous industrial partners, from major groups to SMEs.

These research partnerships represent more than half of the school’s research contracts.

SIGMA Clermont is a founding member of two laboratories shared with Michelin (FactoLab and SiMatLab), as well as with the BARBIER group (POPBA) and a research foundation (Institut Analgesia).

In recent years, the research work of SIGMA Clermont's faculty members has led to the creation of companies such as Innopain, Phimeca  and RevLum.

Industrial chairs

SIGMA Clermont has set up an ambitious policy of industrial chairs. Conceived with its industrial partners as real project generators, these chairs cover all of the school's missions: training, research and socio-economic development.

  • The ProNats Chair is dedicated to developing natural health products by combining phytochemistry and biology with experimentation on innovative applications in a wide range of sectors, including health, cosmetics and nutraceuticals.

  • The DREAM Chair aims to support the industrial sector's transition to new manufacturing processes by defining methods to increase the performance of new manufacturing processes, and creating new materials for additive processes for industry.

  • The VIVA Chair capitalises on the school's expertise in chemistry and industrial manufacturing processes, with the aim of enhancing the value of plants through the production of natural active ingredients for food (nutraceuticals), cosmetic or medicinal interest (anti-inflammatory and/or analgesic activity).
  • The EUROAPI-SIGMA partnership enables cross-fertilisation between industry and academia in the pharmaceutical sector. The Chair enables the development of high-level teaching and facilitates, for future engineers, an in-depth understanding of the socio-economic world.

  • The BACACIER-SIGMA partnership was established to contribute to knowledge in the field of materials durability.

  • The MICHELIN-SIGMA partnership  aims to bring together partners and energise teams around training courses, educational projects and research in the field of process engineering.

  • The TRELLEBORG-SIGMA partnership aims to develop knowledge in the field of materials ageing.

  • The PHIMECA-SIGMA partnership contributes to innovation in environmental protection through the resilience and durability of structures and systems. It also aims to affirm the contribution of engineers to society.

  • The aim of the Clermont Auvergne INP Foundation is to promote higher scientific education for engineers in Clermont-Ferrand, and to encourage innovation and research. It provides moral and financial support to SIGMA Clermont and participates in its management by representing the business community in the various SIGMA Clermont governing bodies, helping to define the institution's major orientations.
