Associations & clubs

There are almost forty student clubs and associations to keep you busy - there's something for everyone! The clubs and associations are a real driving force behind student life at SIGMA Clermont, and they also enable student engineers to develop their project management skills, a point that is greatly appreciated by recruiters!

The students’ office (BDE) website lists all the associations and clubs in which students can get involved: sports and outdoors, humanitarian and civic, technological, cultural, micro-business and events.

Joining and taking part in the life of an association enables engineering students to forge links among themselves and discover new interests, but also to confront the challenges of management, organisation, budgeting, planning, etc. in a wide variety of fields.

Some examples of associations:

Events

The Gala association organises the annual School Gala, a prestigious event that brings together engineering students, school staff, alumni and SIGMA Clermont's industrial partners.

  • The RDD association, which with the help of SIGMA Clermont management organises the Graduation Ceremony, a symbolic event in the life of SIGMA engineers.

Sports and outdoor activities

  • OXYGENE is SIGMA Clermont's outdoor sports association and offers activities throughout the year to help you discover the region and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of the Auvergne.

  • RAID SIGMA: every year in October, the Raid SIGMA Clermont takes place. Three routes - amateur, sports and expert - are proposed to allow everyone to challenge themselves in a friendly atmosphere, true to the values of SIGMA Clermont.

Technological

  • SIGMA Racing is SIGMA Clermont's motor sports association. Its members work on the Formula Student project, for example.

  • Mécaction is SIGMA Clermont's old cars association, which showcases emblematic models at certain events (such as Open Day).

Social and humanitarian

  • SOUC: this student association aims to build a school in Togo. Every year, the engineering students go out to help on the building site.

  • ACTIS: the aim of this association is to provide scientific mediation for secondary school pupils, to raise their awareness and give them a taste for science as early as possible.

ZOOM - the Equilibre association

Equilibre is the SIGMA Clermont student association dedicated to sustainable development and ecology. Every fortnight, the association mails students to ask them what they need to live on. Baskets of fruit, vegetables, cheese, sausages, eggs and bulk products (pasta, rice, washing powder, dried fruit, etc.) are offered. After taking stock of the orders, the association buys the products at the market and in the Day by Day shop for the bulk products. The association then distributes the baskets the following Monday at SIGMA Clermont.

Awarded the Prix de l'Engagement Étudiant in 2022, Equilibre also organises Clean Walks on campus and clothing sales at the school to promote the circular economy.
